Author's Chapter Notes:

DISCLAIMER- I DO NOT OWN INUYASHA OR ANY OF HIS AWESOME FRIENDS AND FOES. I do, however, own Courtney. If you wish to use her in your fanfic, please ask and I will most likely be so flattered that I say yes.

REVIEW! I love reviews!

So this was Japan.

A tanned face looked around the terminal, her bright brown eyes shining happily. Courtney had waited a long time, going through all types of tests, trials, and 2 months worth of language classes. And as she looked out the airport to the streets of Tokyo, she decided it was worth it.

Brushing her silky brown hair out of her face, she looked at the photo of her host family. It was a nice family picture, with a kind-looking mother in a flower-print dress, a wacky grandfather in old fashioned Japanese clothing, a cute 10-year old boy in a t-shirt and jeans, and a girl about her age in a clean-cut school uniform. She turned the picture around, looking at the name on the back. Giving herself a mental note on the name, she walked through the crowded building to the baggage claim.

Looking around the baggage claim, she finally saw a friendly looking family holding a sign. Looking closely, she saw what it said. “コートニー.”

Slightly confused, Courtney stared it at harder, muttering to herself. “Coat knee? Who’s coat knee? Ohh…Courtney!” Laughing at her own confusion, she pushed her hair behind her ear again, and jogged towards the family, her knit carry-on bouncing behind her. She bowed politely to the mother and grandfather, addressing them with a simple, “Konnichiwa, Higurashi-sama”.

Mrs. Higurashi smiled, and shook Courtney’s hand. “It’s nice to have you, Miss Jones. Meet my father, whom you may call Grandfather, my son, Sota, and my daughter, Kagome. I believe she is your age?”

Kagome chuckled at Courtney’s baffled look,” Here in Japan, it is necessary to know fluent English; it is used in our schools, and for business. It’s nice to meet you. Are you ready to go?”

Courtney smiled in relief, glad that she could still speak in her native language. She was about to answer, when all of the sudden there was a large CLUNK behind her.

Turning around, she tried to stifle a laugh when she saw poor Sota struggling under the weight of her duffel bag. Running to help the poor boy, she lifted the bag and placed it on her shoulder. Offering a hand to Sota, she helped him up.

When Sota saw Courtney lift the bag, his eyes went wide, and he smiled. “Wow, Courtney! You’re strong! Almost as strong as Inuyasha!”

Courtney smiled quizzically, and helped Sota up, and dusted him off. Smiling she slapped his shoulder gently and said, “Ah, one day you’ll be just as strong as me, Sota, If not stronger.” She looked at Kagome, whose blush explained everything. ‘Oh, it’s a boyfriend. OK.’

Mrs. Higurashi laughed lightly, and ruffled Sota’s hair affectionately. “C’mon, macho, let’s go.”

Courtney shifted the bag on her shoulder, and smiled, pulling her t-shirt down. She had a feeling she was going to love Tokyo.
