The next stage in human evolution has finally begun. A new human race has been born with wondrous powers breaking all laws of human nature. I, myself, am one of them. I saw the crimes committed to those who were different because of their powers and I vowed I would help correct the wrongs. My name is Kagome Higurashi and I am what most people define us as, a mutant.

Even after more than twenty years of experimentation, legal or not, scientist still have not found an answer to how and why mutants came about. Some say that it is a mutation in the genes; others say its radiation exposure from the sun due to the decrease in the ozone layer. In the beginning, when mutants, started to come into being, the normal humans saw us as the future outcome of what Earth would become. Now we are not that fortunate.

There are movements to impose on our rights as beings of a higher intellect, some we wish that we do not exist at all. It is no longer safe for us to stay out after dark alone. For those who claim to hate us, for those who fear us, idiotic bigots, they have forgotten where our origins lie. The mutant race started with that of a non-mutant woman in the United States. They forget that, even though that we are different, from our gifts and appearances; we are and always remain the children of the homosapien race.

When I was younger, my father thought my powers would help humanity in the future. He help me gain control of my gift and in his name, I use it. I used it freely back then, but now I watch my steps. I must keep them a secret to save my family from the brutality that people have succumbed to. I hope by the end of all I will accomplish, it is that for humans and mutants to live in an understanding peace.

This is my story, of how others and I saved Japan and the world from a terrible fate, from a mad man who wish to use me to become a king himself and would kill all humans and those mutants who wish to stand in his way.
