And you're rigth, Sesshoumaru is a difficult character to work with. I have written a few stories where he was at least one of the main characters, and I know personally how difficult it can be. He's soooo uncooperative!
I think you did a good job keeping him in character.

Well, it is good Sesshoumaru decided to get in the mix. I hope that perhaps he might be able to get the beast tamed or get InuYasha to do it, even get him out of his abyssmal thoughts.
