Kagome sat on the windowsill with her knees pulled up to her chest. She let out a sigh as she leaned into the wall and she rested her head on her arms. This window was the closest thing she would ever come to freedom. Since the age of 5 Kagome had been the ward of King Naraku. Her parents had been killed in a senseless blood bath, Some said the King who at the time was a mere prince, had feelings for the mother and when he laid eyes on Kagome, he took her in for that very reason. Kagome was now 16 and she was blessed with the beauty of her mother, Raven Black locks that fell to her waist, Chocolate brown eyes, and a curvy body. She had also been blessed with her mother’s acting skills, and she appeared in local plays to pass the time. She had never been outside the palace walls. She spent countless hours sitting on the windowsill watching the moonrise. Kagome frowned when her servant walked into the room. Kagome had saved Sango when she was 8, Sango was to be sold to a ruthless king in a far away land. Kagome threw herself upon the king and begged for him to release Sango to her. The two girls were now the best of friends. But Sango coming into the room could only mean one thing, The King was wanting to see Kagome.

Kagome frowned and she stood, Sango walked over to young woman and she stood silent while Sango braided her hair and placed a cloak around her shoulders and over her nightgown. Kagome then left the room and she walked to Naraku’s bedchamber. She was led in and the door was slammed behind her. Kagome knelt on the floor as was custom. Naraku laughed, "My child rise and come here." Kagome stood and she walked over to the king where she knelt on the ground once more. Many women thought Naraku was handsome, Almost 200 years old and yet he appeared no older than 20. Naraku stood and he walked in circles around Kagome as he spoke, "You are now 16, a suitable age for marriage. You will be joining me for dinner every night in the hope that you will see that my love for you is real." Kagome nodded and she stood, Before she could leave the room Naraku began to speak again, "There is a new servant coming into the castle tonight…he will be waiting in your room, Show him around and give him his jobs. He is your servant." Kagome nodded and she bowed. She walked out of the room and she felt tears gather in her eyes. By the time she made it back to her room, Sango had a good idea of what was going on. Her fears were proven to be true when she saw the tears slowly sliding down Kagome’s face. Sango held her arms out and the young woman fell into them and she began to sob.

Sango held Kagome to her and she tried to comfort her the best she could. When the door began to open Kagome quickly regained her composure and she stood, Naraku stepped in with someone by his side, "This is the new servant, he will be your personal servant and bodyguard." With those words Naraku left the room, Kagome swayed and Sango managed to catch her before she hit the ground. The boy removed his hood and he knelt next to them, Sango’s eyes went wide and she smiled, "Inuyasha!" Inuyasha smirked and he nodded, "I came as soon as I got your letter…. Miroku is fine. Waiting as usual." Inuyasha looked down at Kagome and their eyes met. Kagome smiled softly, "I’m Kagome…" Inuyasha smiled and he nodded, "I know all about you Kagome, Were going to get you out of here." Kagome smiled and without thinking she reached up and hugged Inuyasha tightly. The Hanyou was taken by surprise but he smiled and hugged her back. When Kagome pulled away her eyes fell onto Inuyasha’s ears…. She smiled and let out a giggle, "I like your ears" Inuyasha turned a bright red and he smiled. At this point Sango couldn’t help but break into fits of laughter.

The following morning, Kagome was happy to find out, Naraku had left on Business and wouldn’t be returning until dinner that evening. This gave Kagome free reign in the castle and the ground until he returned. Kagome walked outside with Sango by her side, She smiled when she saw Inuyasha sitting under a Sakura tree. Inuyasha went to bow and Kagome raised her hand, "Inuyasha no…When we are alone you do not have to bow, its only when we are around Naraku." Inuyasha nodded and he smiled. Sango frowned "Speaking of Naraku, he sent the dress he wants you to wear tonight." Kagome sighed and she walked to her room with Inuyasha and Sango close by. When she saw the dress she fell into a fit of sobs. Sango frowned when she saw what dress it was Inuyasha was confused as hell. After Kagome cried herself into an exhausted state. Sango and Inuyasha went for a walk out in the gardens. "Sango I don’t understand, why did Kagome cry so hard.? Sango sighed and she sat down on a bench. "When Naraku was just a prince, He fell in love with Kagome’s mother. Well his father forbid it and he sent his soldiers to destroy the village. Naraku saved Kagome and he took her in as his ward…. But the bad thing is…now that Kagome is old enough to marry Naraku wants her for himself. She hasn’t left the castle since she was 5. You are the first guy Kagome has come into contact with since she was 5." Inuyasha frowned and he let out a sigh.

That night Inuyasha stood by as Sango helped Kagome get ready. She came out in the dress and Inuyasha smiled. The dress was light blue edged in white lace, the sleeves went to her shoulders and her hair was pulled back with a white bow. She slipped into her heels and she stood ready. When Naraku came in he smiled, "Shall we." Kagome took his arm and they walked out of the room. The dinner was held in the King’s personal chambers. Kagome slowly ate wishing this dinner would hurry up and end so she could get back to Inuyasha and Sango. At the thought of Inuyasha, Kagome couldn’t help but smile. Naraku raised an eyebrow, "Um Kagome if your finished eating could you follow me please." Kagome snapped out of her trance and she nodded. She stood and she raised an eyebrow as Naraku grabbed her arm and pulled her close to him. She was shocked to find they were walking into his bedchamber. Kagome began to tense up as Naraku closed the door behind him.

He walked up to Kagome and he smiled, "You have turned into a true beauty Kagome…. Just like your mother." Kagome glared at the mention of her mother, "Please sir, I would appreciate it if you wouldn’t speak of my mother in such a way." Naraku placed his hand on Kagome’s cheek and he smirked, When he leaned down to Kiss her Kagome pushed him away. "Contain yourself sir…I am leaving." Kagome made it to the door and she grabbed the doorknob. Naraku grabbed her and he forced her to turn around, he slammed her into the wall. Kagome let out a whimper and She looked at the king. Before Naraku could do anything A knock came at the door, "Please excuse me sir, the prince of the next Kingdom has arrived." Naraku smirked, "You will be let go this time…" Kagome growled, "Never lay your hands on me again." Naraku glared and he backhanded Kagome hard enough to send her to the floor. Kagome looked up and she tried to stand but fell back to the floor. Naraku laughed, "When im through with you, not even a dirt Hanyou would want you…" Naraku opened the door, Kagome stood and she walked out. She stumbled down the hallway and into her room.

Inuyasha and Sango stood when the doors opened. The saw the handprint on her cheek and Inuyasha growled. Kagome closed the door and she let out a sob. Inuyasha ran to her and he wrapped his arms around her. He sank to the floor and he held Kagome as she sobbed. "W…w...What am I going to do…I need to get out of here." Inuyasha looked at Sango and he sighed, "I promise Kagome, I won’t let anything happen to you…I’m going to protect you." Kagome looked up at Inuyasha and she smiled, She then curled her fingers around Inuyasha’s wrist and she fell into a fitful sleep. Inuyasha stood with Kagome in his arms and he walked over to the sitting area. He sat down and he kept Kagome in his lap…. When Sango came back in a few hours later, Inuyasha had fallen asleep holding Kagome tightly to him. Sango let out a sigh, She was happy for them but she also knew…Only bad could come from this.

The first thing that came to Kagome’s mind was, the warmth surrounding her. The last thing she remembered before passing out was Inuyasha’s eyes. She slowly opened her eyes and she smiled when she saw the sleeping form of Inuyasha. She gently moved and the Hanyou’s eyes slowly opened. He smiled and he let her go. "How are you feeling?" Kagome slowly stood and she stretched, "much better, Thank you for staying with me tonight." Inuyasha smiled and he went to speak, but before he could say anything Sango ran into the room and she slammed the door, "Kagome, we need to get you ready. Naraku is on his way!" Kagome’s eyes went wide and she ran over to Sango. Within Minutes Kagome was dressed in a Pink Kimono, She ushered Inuyasha out of the room and she had just pulled her hair back when Naraku walked into the room. Kagome stood with her hands folded in front of her. "We are going into town today Kagome, its time for you to start wearing more official clothing." He left the room and Kagome frowned, Official meant, Stifling Kimono’s and at times, long floor length dresses. She let out a sigh and she walked over to the window, She sat on the windowsill and she let her thoughts wander.

Kagome was pulled out of her trance when Naraku walked into the room, He stood silently waiting on his ward. Kagome stood and she walked behind him with her head down. The ride to the town was silent. When they arrived they went directly to the dress shop. Kagome bought several kimonos, gowns and everyday dresses. It was a major step up from the childish clothes she had been wearing since arriving at the fortress. When they arrived at the castle, Kagome was finally left alone. When Sango told Kagome Naraku had left and wouldn’t be back until the following Afternoon, The young woman was overcome with happiness. She dropped her Kimonos and she ran into the gardens. Inuyasha came into sight and her smile got brighter. Before Inuyasha could react Kagome had jumped onto his back, "Naraku is gone until Tomorrow afternoon." Inuyasha set Kagome down and he smiled, "So what is it you have planned?" Kagome smiled, "You and Sango stay in my room tonight." Inuyasha let out a laugh, he picked Kagome up bridal style and he began to spin around in circles. Kagome squealed and she laughed, Sango smiled as she watched them both.

That night Kagome, Inuyasha and Sango sat on the floor in her room eating fruit, vegetables and meet. It was the happiest Kagome had been since Sango first came into her life. Kagome fell into another fit of laughter as Inuyasha tried to do impersonations. She picked up a grape and threw it at him only to hit him in the forehead. After Sango fell asleep Kagome and Inuyasha decided to go for a walk in the garden. Inuyasha smiled as he linked his arm with Kagome. "So…King Naraku…He seems to be a suitable match." Kagome put her head down and she sighed, "Naraku is a beast. That man has held me prisoner since I was 5, He was in love with my mother. It angered him when she fell in love with my father, a lord of a great village instead of him. My mother got caught in the crossfire between him and my father. My father died and my mother not long after. Naraku took me in." Inuyasha frowned and his ears drooped. Kagome looked up and she smiled, "Don’t Worry Inuyasha ill be alright. Besides I have my heart set on someone else." Kagome leaned on the castle walls and she tried to look over them. Inuyasha smiled softly as he picked her up and he jumped onto the wall.

Kagome smiled and she looked longingly at the lands before her. Inuyasha sat next to her and he smiled. "Ive always wondered what it would be like, to be loved for who you are instead of what you are." Kagome smiled and she leaned into Inuyasha, "Ive wondered the same thing to." Inuyasha smiled and he wrapped his arms around Kagome and he held her tightly. When Kagome let out a sob, Inuyasha frowned, "Kagome…what’s wrong?" Kagome looked at the moon and she spoke as tears rolled down her cheeks, "Ive fallen in love with someone, but I know he could never love me back. I have been sworn to Naraku. If he chose to love me back, It would have to be in complete secret." Inuyasha sighed and he held her tighter, "Who is he Kagome, Who is it you love?’ Kagome moved out of Inuyasha’s grasp and she looked at him, "Do you not know." Inuyasha smiled and he felt his own eyes feel with tears. He pulled Kagome close and he gently pressed his lips to hers. Kagome held Inuyasha tightly to her. When she pulled back she smiled brightly.

A few minutes later, They couple resumed they’re walking. Kagome smiled as she leaned into Inuyasha. The Hanyou wrapped his arm around Kagome and he held her close. As they walked under the moonlight Kagome felt a sudden sense of Peace. It was a feeling she had never felt before. She smiled when Inuyasha began to sing in a low voice,

As the song slowly ended, Kagome and Inuyasha held each other in a passionate kiss. They walked back into the bedchamber hand in hand. Kagome covered Sango with a blanket and she settled down on a futon not far from Sango. Inuyasha smiled and he sat next to her. The two fell asleep holding each other.

The next morning Kagome was woken up by Sango, When she saw the look in Sango’s eyes she became alarmed, "Sango…what’s going on?" Sango tried to speak without fear, "Naraku is back, he wants to see you. He came in to surprise you and he saw you and Inuyasha." Kagome closed her eyes and she tried to fight back the tears. She looked at Inuyasha and she gently shook him awake. "You need to leave now." Inuyasha didn’t object when he heard the fear in her voice. He grabbed his sword and he leapt out of the window. Kagome dressed in a red Kimono and she pulled her hair back with a red ribbon. She was led to Naraku’s room and she gently knocked. When the door opened she stepped in.

The door shut behind her and Naraku stood, He walked to Kagome and he stood over her. Kagome made the mistake of looking him in the eye, before she could speak, she was backhanded hard. She fell backwards and she tumbled over a chair and onto the floor. She held her cheek and she slowly stood. Naraku backhanded her again and Kagome fell into the wall. She didn’t bother getting up. Sango stood outside her hands shaking under her cloak as she listened to Kagome’s screams and please for him to stop hitting her. When Naraku finally finished Kagome lay on the floor, She couldn’t see out of her left eye, her lip had been busted open and countless bruises covered her face. Kagome winced and she tried to move back as Naraku knelt in front of her. Naraku frowned and he grabbed her wrist. "I have to leave once more, Only this time I will be gone for 2 weeks. You have until I return to end whatever you have with Inuyasha. Or I will end it for you. When I return we are to be married…you are dismissed." Kagome stood and the doors opened. When Sango saw her friend she gasped.

Kagome didn’t utter a word as she walked back to her room. Once she was sure her and Sango were Alone, Kagome broke………

Sango rushed to Kagome’s side and she helped her into the sitting room. She brought in a bowl of warm water and some cloth. She then began to gently clean the blood of off Kagome. Inuyasha came in and he stopped, "Oh my Kami." Kagome Looked at Inuyasha and more tears began to fall. Inuyasha knelt in front of her and he growled. The doors to Kagome’s room began to open, Kagome quickly pushed Inuyasha into her wardrobe and she stood in front of it. One of Naraku’s servants walked in and she bowed, "My lady, naraku wishes you to be their when he leaves." Kagome nodded, "Let me change and I will be their." The servant nodded and Kagome sighed. She changed out of her kimono and into a Floor length blue dress, she tied a white apron over it to give her the appearance of a servant…that’s exactly how she wanted to look…. Like Naraku’s servant. She brushed her hair and she tied back with a blue ribbon. She slid into some shoes and she walked outside. When Naraku saw the dress and frowned, "I thought I had requested that you get rid of her Servant attire." Kagome showed now emotion as she spoke, "I am free while you are gone…I will dress how I want." Kagome was rewarded with another slap but this time she did not fall.

She simply looked at Naraku and she smirked, "one day you shall pay for that." Naraku growled, "Your smart mouth will one day get you into trouble Kagome." He then turned and he climbed onto his horse. He rode away from the castle and Kagome smiled. She turned and she walked back into her room. Inuyasha stood and he bit his bottom lip, Kagome ran to him and she jumped into his arms. Inuyasha laughed and he spun around. That night as they sat under the moon, Kagome sighed as she sat up. "What’s wrong Kagome." Kagome put her head down as she spoke, She feared if she looked into Inuyasha’s eyes, She would start crying, "When Naraku returns, We are to be married…" The words pierced Inuyasha’s heart like a thousand bees. "No…No Kagome I wont let him have you." Kagome sighed and she stood, "We don’t have a choice Inuyasha…On the night he returns, he expects me to be waiting in his bedchamber…. And the jealousy will drive you mad." Kagome turned her back to Inuyasha and she tried to fight back the tears, Inuyasha stood and he frowned, "Let’s leave, Tonight. We can bee far away from here by the time he returns." Kagome turned to face him "it will never work Inuyasha…He will find us, we will spend our whole lives running…I couldn’t live like that…Could you."

Inuyasha looked at Kagome and he put his head down, He looked at her and began to sing softly,

Inuyasha smiled and he held Kagome close, Kagome held onto Inuyasha as tightly as she could. One after noon while Kagome and Sango sat outside, Inuyasha appeared with someone else. Kagome stood in awe of the person with Inuyasha. Inuyasha smiled, "Kagome, This is my brother Sesshomaru, The lord of the Western Lands." Sesshomaru frowned when Kagome bowed before him. He knelt down and he gently placed his hand under her chin, he gently lifted her face so he could look her in the eyes, "You do not have to bow before me, I thought your existence was nothing but a rumor. The only daughter of Kiroku, Lord of the Western Mountains." Kagome smiled and she slowly stood, Sesshomaru smiled, "You have my protection, but I’m afraid I can not stop Naraku from what he is doing. He took the title of King, That Alone makes him a higher status than me." Kagome frowned and she nodded, "I understand."

Not long after meeting Sesshomaru, Kagome received word that Naraku was on his way back and would be at the castle gates by nightfall. Kagome stood as Sango brushed her hair, All Kagome wore was her nightgown. Inuyasha stood pacing, As Sango finished Inuyasha let out a growl. "I don’t want you to do this please." Kagome sighed and she walked up to Inuyasha, "he could destroy everything…You promised Inuyasha." Inuyasha growled and Kagome sighed as she watched a tear fall down Inuyasha’s cheeks She leaned in and she whispered into his ear, "Come what may…" She pulled back and she smiled. Kagome then left her room and she slowly made her way to Naraku’s bedchamber.

When Naraku arrived he was told Kagome was waiting for him. He smirked as he walked to his room, "Kagome has finally see then light." He walked into the bedchamber and he smiled when Kagome turned around. Naraku walked up to Kagome and he gently ran his fingers across her cheek. Kagome turned and she walked over to the window that over looked the garden.

Inuyasha stood in the garden, He looked at Sango and he began to pace back and forth. Inuyasha looked up at the window and he sighed,

Kagome stood while Naraku ran his hands over her body. Inuyasha stood under the balcony, he looked up and he frowned,

Kagome saw Inuyasha and she gasped, "No…." Naraku growled, Kagome walked away from him and towards the door, "I can’t do this. Please…" Naraku glared at Kagome and he grabbed her arm. He pulled her to him and he forced his mouth upon hers, As he did he slowly released a poison miasma into her system. When he pulled back Kagome fell to her knees coughing and gasping for air. Naraku frowned "I didn’t want to resort to that, You have no choice, the miasma that is now coursing through your veins, will kill you in 48 hours if you do not consent to marry me." Kagome stood and she ran from the room, She ran into the garden and into Inuyasha’s arms, "I couldn’t…I couldn’t go through with it, I saw you standing their and I said no…" Inuyasha held her tightly, "Lets leave tonight…. Go pack your things and meet me under the Sakura tree in three hours." Kagome nodded and she kissed Inuyasha gently…………..
